FROM CRISIS TO STABILITY TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY
Home should be a place of safety and refuge. For those caught in a violent home, it is a place of fear. BDVP seeks to help families escape the pattern of intimate partner violence and rebuild their lives on a secure and stable foundation.
WHAT WE DO
Residential and non-residential services are available throughout our 17 county service area. The Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program provides a 24 hour confidential crisis line, (1-800-544-2022) through which all services offered by the program are available.
These services include: 24 hour crisis and information line, emergency shelter, group and individual counseling for adults and children, case management services, legal advocacy, financial literacy; information and referral, emergency financial assistance, housing assistance and transportation.
Our residential program has 32 beds for residents and their children with daily individual and group counseling and children's programs. The program also provides weekly non-residential group counseling throughout the Bluegrass Area Development District.
We provide legal advocacy to accompany clients to court, and act as liaison between clients and the court.
Financial Literacy training also assists victims in starting a new life free from abuse as they work towards self-sufficiency. Individual Development Asset building savings accounts help participating families save money with a 2 to 1 match that will assist with purchasing a home or continuing their education.
The BDVP also works with area businesses, groups and organizations to provide intervention, public education and professional training programs that raise awareness about intimate partner violence and reduce its impact.
CERTIFIED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATES
All services are provided by domestic violence advocates who receive certification through the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association (KDVA).
KDVA is a private, non-profit state coalition that provides technical assistance, mutual support, information, resource sharing, state-wide service coordination, domestic violence certification, community awareness training, professional training, legal assistance to clients, and administers state funds for the 15 state-funded domestic violence programs.
